This weekend I will be going to Altercations, which is an Altered Arts Conference. I am looking forward to it as I have never attended such an event. Not quite sure what all to expect, but I am sure it will be interesting. There will be vendors, people working on projects and classes are offered. I spent yesterday and today making up several Artist Trading Cards to exchange. My ATC collection is slowly beginning to grow. Being a neophyte to Artist Trading Cards, this small scale makes for rather tedious work. They are a lot of fun to make though and I can see how it could become very addictive. I participated in an Altered Books Exhibition in Little Rock Arkansas and have received word that I have won First Place/Best in Show with my "Flight" book. The judge said, in part, "Perfection in artistry...Ethereal, tactile fantasy for the eye, the hand and mind and soul .... Brilliant use of creative elements and variety of technique ... My Heart Shaped Book received an Honorable Mention. The judge said, in part, "Visual intrigue inspires exploration. Beautiful, original artistry. Lovely painting and printing techniques. Needless to say, I am very pleased to have received these awards and am honored to have been selected to participate in this event. I hope to participate again next year!
