The Big White Journal

Awhile back I found this wonderful metal plate shoved underneath several chipped flower pots in the clearance section of a Home Goods store. My immediate thought was to use it as a cover for a journal. Once getting it home I realized that it would end up being a very large journal and hesitated to construct it until now. I have never made such a large journal and felt it it would prove to be quite a challenge. The journal has been made with wooden covers, Coptic binding and filled with 140 lb. hot press watercolor paper for the pages. The metal plate has been bolted onto the front wood cover. The overall size is 10.5" X 14.5". The papers underneath the journal are what I am thinking is going to be the basic color palette I will use in the journal, but that of course could change. Now let's see if I can handle working on a spread almost 30 inches across, we'll see...

Dear Ingrid,

I cannot believe that this beautiful plate was being used underneath flower pots. It is a shame to so much beauty is mostly lost until someone like yourself discovers its possibilities.

I am glad it is in your hands.

Warmest regards,
Egmont

Love it Ingrid!! It so cool when you have an Idea and then it comes to fruition, sometimes even better than you thought. I think you will love the large format, though they will take a while to complete.
Maybe you can bring it with you when you come to Ohio later this summer.
I am still waiting to see if I can get time off work to sign up the edge class.
Take Care ~ Deb
