I'm the first to admit, I am terrible about taking class photos of the wonderful work made by students. I get so involved in the work that I forget ... ever single time.  These were taken after class was over and half the students had already left.  Non-the-less the work you see here is absolutely top notch. This is from "Art and Soul" in Portland this past week.

Small Studio - Workshops

I'm just back from a wonderful time in New York City teaching 3 different workshops.  I barely have enough time to unpack and I'm packing and preparing for 2 fabulous days of workshops  next week, September 8 - 9, 2012  at Small Studio in beautiful Westlake, Ohio.

I'm thrilled to be offering two workshops, "The File Folder Journals" and "The Twirly Swirly Journals", two very fun filled days of journal construction!

Workshops at Small Studio!

Here are a few photos of "The Twirly Swirly Journals" and below that a few from "The File Folder Journals".  These workshops are being offered through the "Small Studio Workshop Series" at Ginny Carter Smallenburg's fabulous studio and shop "Small Studio - Eclectic and Curious Goods".  The Workshops will be held on September 8 & 9, 2012 in beautiful Westlake, Ohio, just outside of Cleveland.  I hope you'll join us ... a good time will be had by all!

Workshops at "Whispering Woodlands"

Next weekend I'll be going out to Whispering Woodlands in Verona, Wisconsin. I have to admit I have been looking forward to this trip for a very long time. It is one of my favorite retreats, small class sizes, beautiful surroundings and such a relaxed atmosphere for everyone.

I'll be teaching "Over the Edge" as a two day workshop on Friday May 20th and Saturday May 21st. This will give us the opportunity to really explore a lot of different page shapes and edges.

Below is a photo of "The Ambrosia Journals" that will be offered as a fast paced one day Workshop on Thursday May 10th.

On Sunday May 22nd will be "The Twirly Swirly Journals". There are still a few spots available for "Over the Edge" and "The Ambrosia Journals" and registrations are still being accepted. Hope you'll join us!

"Twirly Swirly Journal" entry

Yet another entry in one of the "Twirly Swirly Journals". Yes, a bit sappy, but I do love my dog. This journal spread has some nice smaller fold out swirl pages that are a lot of fun to work with. Next I plan to make some spinners to incorporate into these journals ... looking forward to figuring that all out.

Way behind on EVERYTHING....

I am so backed up on just about everything! Between a child having a tonsillectomy, hosting multiple holiday festivities and oral surgery that turned out to be a far bigger deal than I anticipated, I have really gotten behind.

I do, however, have a few "Sneak Peek" photos of the new series of journals "The Twirly Swirly" Journals that I am working on. It's not going very fast, but at least it is going.

"The Twirly Swirly Journals" A sneak peek at a new Workshop

Here is a little sneak peek of what I am working on, "The Twirly Swirly Journals" and the Workshop to make them.

As the name implies, these journals are full of just about anything you can imagine that swirls and twirls. Elegant, a little bit girly, but above all, unusual and slightly quirky, this series of Journals will get your head spinning with more and more ideas of how you can add a new dimension to your journaling. We’ll start with a basic pre-made hard bound book construction, collage the cover, sew in the pages with a simple binding method, work with lots of fun twirls and swirls by adding fold out pages, quotes, text and other fun oddities using provided collage sheets. I’ll be bringing lots of swirly rubber stamps, templates and stencils to work with and to top it all off we’ll add a plethora of beads, trinkets and baubles that dangle from the spine to finish off this delightful journal. Already scheduled ... teaching this workshop in May 2011 at Whispering Woodlands in beautiful Verona, Wisconsin! Hope you’ll join us!
