"De Corporis Humani Fabrica"

This journal "De Corporis Humani Fabrica" is a delightfully creepy exploration of vintage anatomical drawings. It's well underway, yet still has lots of room for additional journal entries that I'll share as they are completed.
This journal will be used for a workshop being offered At "Whispering Woodlands" in Verona Wisconsin, on the weekend of June 11/12/13, 2010. Also "Through the Rabbit-Hole", an Alice inspired Tunnel book will be offered that same weekend. I'm pretty sure sign ups for these work shops are beginning very soon.
This book is done in the wildly popular chip-board binder format with boxboard pages. I have gathered oodles of wonderful imagery, stencils, rubber stamps, inks, paper punches, cardboard slide mailers, glass slides and more, that will be available for use in the workshops.
The main focus will be on constructing the book cover (complete with glass slides) and incorporating imagery into our journaling. All photos enlarge to show detail.

It's at a private location and I believe the class is already filled to capacity. It's through the group "Michiganab@yahoogroups.com".
There will be classes available at "Ginny's Small Studio Workshops" in Ohio, listed in my side bar also, sign up for those classes should start up very soon.

Where do I begin with this post, Ingrid? I guess at the beginning. Congrats on learning it's a BOY. I know you are thrilled and I'm tickled for you. That pink flamingo will be about the right size to ride around Christmas 2012!

Your art is incredible. I am so in awe of your talent. As I was greedily reading each word, I saw the hand peeping out from behind another page. When I scrolled down to the next image, I was blown away by it.

As awesome as the hand was (and you know I'm into hands right now), I was even more impressed by the fact that NO ONE has noticed (or at least said anything about) your scrolls and swirls. You know, the ones people pay oodles for rubber stamped ones that aren't nearly as delicate and precise as yours.

You go, girl!!

SO COOL!!

Oh, wow. Did you consider using red paint for that dripping effect? That's pretty obvious, I guess. But these pages are amazing. I really am inspired.

This looks like an amazing journal! I wish I could see it in "person"! When I was in art school (30 years ago!) we all went to the medical university and drew the bodies that were on display and in jars. I drew the one you have on the first page - the body cut in half - it looks amazingly like the one you used! We then made block prints with them. Mine is so creepy I keep it in the closet!
