This is in my "Over the Edge" Notebook Journal, which is basically a technique journal for page edges and shaped pages. This was done on pages made from cereal box board. I used several color washes over a thin coat of gesso to get the effect on the background. The white and brown swirls were done by hand and the black ones with a rubber stamp.

You have definitely inspired me to make a book similar to yours, made with only leftovers, found objects, and freebies.
As someone who limits the quantity of art supplies I purchase, I find quality must reign supreme. I have found the Staz-on brand to be the best all around ink due to its versatility and vibrant colors. However, I also have found it drys out quickly.
The technique that caught my eye on this spread was where you first painted the swirls, then glazed over them, giving so much depth to an otherwise uncluttered piece.
This is a truly wonderful spread.

Everything I read or see in your blog is such an inspiration...you make me want to push my creativity. Thank you for that.
I love flourishes and swirls...they are my favorite embellishements, for some reason. Now to go and play with them on a piece I'm working on. You've inspired me, yet again!
