Reconstructed Thrift Store Finds

I've been having a lot of fun reconstructing clothing out of thrifty store finds lately. I get a great deal of satisfaction from this.  This particular tunic is made from a linen jumper (below) that I found for $2.99 and a full length black linen skirt for 99 cents.

Basically, I cut the extra length off the jumper, added that to the sides and made a large border of black linen on the sides and bottom.  I changed the buttons on the front to little black buttons and took the back ties and moved them to the sides.

And presto!  A funky tunic that I'll have fun wearing over leggings.  I have seen something similar on-line for $295 ... I reconstructed this in an evening for under $4.

This is the last one, but it is my favorite. NOW I will get back to what I should be doing ....

Diversions - more reclaimed T-Shirts

Okay ... I'll admit I am hooked.  Can't get enough of these T-Shirts.  I have now pretty much cleared out all the thrift shops in the greater Detroit and Harrisburg, Pennsylvania area of their T-Shirt inventory.

Diversions - Reclaimed T-Shirts

A friend of mine, Jean Van Brederode of "Charmed I'm Sure" has a T-Shirt made of reclaimed T-Shirts that I'll admit to being very jealous of.  So after much trial and error, I have come up with a pattern to make my own.

I have taken thrift shop T-Shirts and reconstructed them in the same manner.

Lots of work, but oh so much fun!

Now back to things I should be doing ... sometimes I like to try something a little different.
